Got wine? Tips for removing pesky bottle labels

As a mom of 3 (4 if you count my husband) I go through a decent amount of wine.  And by decent I mean a lot.

I decided to put the bottles to good use and craft with them, but removing the labels proved to be a difficult task.  I've tried washing soda, vinegar, scraping tools and carefully peeling off the labels with no luck. I've found the best way to remove a bunch of labels at once is to use.....

Soap and water!

Materials:

Powered laundry detergent (I used gain Apple mango tango)
A tub or sink filled with hot water

Who would've thought?  All this time is was right under my nose... Well pile of clothes.

Fill your sink with hot water (as hot as it will go)

Dump one scoop of detergent (2 if you used your bathtub)

Let soak for at least 1 hour, check bottles and remove the labels that you can.

If the labels don't peel off easily and cleanly, make sure the water is still warm and scrub the outside of the bottles with a sponge under the water.

If they STILL won't come off, drain the sink/tub and refill with water and a little more soap and soak overnight.

If they still won't come off cleanly, don't use those bottles again. Kidding, use a terry cloth towel with some rubbing alcohol and scrub. The residue should come off.

SIDE NOTE - Cheap wine bottles usually use cheap materials, including adhesive so those bottles may require a little more soak time and elbow grease. Patience is key. If you rush the process you'll end up with sticky residue on the outside of the bottles.

Easy, but time consuming. Hope this helps a fellow crafter :)
